WOLOgoHO? WHY THE STRANGE NAME?
Isaiah 6:8-9
(KJV)
WOLO
go HO,
inc.
______________________________________________________________________________
Why
such a strange name for an organization?
So glad you asked.
What is in a name is very important because it says a lot about the
purposes of that organization. WOLOGOHO
exists in order to mobilize Christians to go
into the “uttermost parts of the earth”.
Hence the emphasis on the word go.
However, the rest of the story is just as important, if not more so.
The
name comes from key words in Isaiah. We
will take one segment of the word at a time.
We would like to do a complete expository sermon on Isaiah but this will
have to suffice for the moment.
After
Isaiah had spent some time in the
ministry as a prophet and had just
finished with all of the “woe’s” upon the people of
Israel
in chapters 3-5, he
had a new encounter with the “Lord of Hosts”.
He saw the Lord, high and lifted up.
It is as this point that he recognized in a renewed way who he himself
was and who God is. Here then
is the sequence of events that transpired.
The same should occur in our lives.
WO - We
must take an
INWARD look and EXAMINE
OURSELVES. As Isaiah we must
recognize that we are lost, that we are men and women of unclean lips and that
we dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips.
We need renewal and revival. It
is only as we begin to realize our unworthiness that God can be begin to use us.
Isaiah 66:2 says, “This is the man to whom I will look, he that is
humble, contrite in spirit and trembles at my word”.
LO - We
must take an UPWARD look and
EXAMINE
GOD. As Isaiah, we must
recognize that it is God Himself that forgives us and
makes us worthy, not ourselves. It
is God who makes things happen. Numbers
23:19
says, “God is not
man that He should repent. Has He
said, and will He not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfil it?
GO
- We must take an
OUTWARD
look and EXAMINE THE WORLD. As
Isaiah, we must make ourselves available to go to wherever God wants to send us.
The question was, “Who shall I send, and who will go for us?”
Then Isaiah says, “Here am
I! Send me.” And God says,
“GO..” Matthew 28:9-10 says, “Go therefore and make disciples of “all”
nations”, not just here in the United States.
HO - We
must take an ONWARD look and EXAMINE
OUR LORD. This word is not
in Isaiah 6 but rather in chapter 55.
The word “Ho” is a constant call from the Lord to continually come to
Him for daily sustenance. Mathew
11:28
says, “Come to me,
all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”.
Now
is not the time to retreat or slow down. Now
is the time to attack and go forward!
Pray
therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He may drive laborers into His harvest!
Matthew 9:38.
